IS CARDIO NOT WORKING?

Are you trying to boost your metabolism?

If you want to boost your metabolism and lose a few extra pounds then cardio might not be the best answer. Cardiovascular endurance training helps burn calories but it doesn’t help you build muscle or burn a lot of fat. It actually slows your metabolism, if you overdo it.

The best way to cut fat is to start some strength training. I know what you’re thinking and you’re not gonna get huge biceps or anything like that, but by doing weight training you strengthen your muscle mass and burn more fat at the same time.

So if you’re looking to boost your metabolism, tone a little bit and lose weight then strength training is for you. Also, you can implement interval training in your routine which can also help burn fat. The high intensity interval training will give you an “after-burn”  effect which burns more calories even after you’re finished training.

If weights are not for you then interval training can still help burn fat much more than cardio. When losing weight is the goal, cardio isn’t likely to help you achieve this goal, but it is better than not exercising. It can strengthen your stamina and/or resistance.

With all things in life…don’t overdo it. Stay hydrated and always try your best to eat healthy.
